For most of us, Christmas has always been a time for family gatherings and having huge and multiple meals placed on the table. With all the hectic festivities that each and every season brings we sometimes forget about those that don’t really have a family to go back to, such was the case with the kids in Sri Sai Pandian Shelter Home in Setia Alam. Surprising enough, that the foundation of said shelter all came down to the teachings of one man’s late mother, which he took to heart and chose to share all of his joy, happiness and even money with kids, single moms and even old folks. It’s a rare tale of one heck of a man, that despite being single chose to find a home for those who are less fortunate than him. A man named Pandian.

Working as a transportation supervisor and part time security guard, Pandian Sundaresan managed to keep the shelter up and running even when faced with financial difficulties. Seeing the happy faces of the kids was more than enough to fuel his desire to keep them clothed, fed and a good education. We often whine about how much expenses goes into education fees and what not, that we can hardly imagine how a man could provide for a whopping 22 children, 3 single moms and 2 old folks for each and every month.

That’s why when given the opportunity to help out, even something as simple as a personalized mug with personal photos and selected inspirational quotes to each and every children, take it with open arms. When you’re faced with such a calamity of losing or separated even from your family, you’ll lose all sense of belonging, there’s nowhere else for you to turn to.
